Tax status and the church exception
Universal Sanctuary Church is organized and operated exclusively for religious and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Under Section 508(c)(1)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code, churches, their integrated auxiliaries and conventions or associations of churches are not required to file an application for recognition of exemption in order to be treated as described in Section 501(c)(3). Universal Sanctuary Church operates in reliance on that church exception.
No part of the church's net earnings inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. The church does not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office, and no substantial part of its activities consists of attempting to influence legislation. Upon dissolution, the church's assets are to be distributed for exempt purposes as required by Section 501(c)(3).
Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors should consult their own tax advisors.
Governance and recordkeeping
